Pargat Singh Indian politician
Pargat Singh (born March 5, 1965) is a former Indian national hockey player and politician. He played for the Indian team as a full-back, playing as the world's best defender. He captained the Indian team to the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Olympics. After retirement, he served as a SP in the Punjab Police and later resigned and entered politics.

The following year, he defeated India 3-2 in a match against the Netherlands in the tournament in Karachi.
Political biography--
As a candidate from the Shiromani Akali Dal, he defeated Congress candidate Jagbir Singh from the Jalandhar Cantonment Assembly constituency in Punjab.
However, he was suspended from the team in July 2016.
He has teamed up with cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu to form a regional team.
