Parshuram Mishra Botanists and educators

Parshuram Mishra (January 25, 1894 - August 7, 1981) was a botanist and educator. He was the Chancellor of Utkal University and the first Chancellor of Sambalpur University. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1961.

Biography--

Parshuram was born on 25 January 1894 in Tulandi village under Barpali in Sambalpur district. He began his career as a demonstrator at Ravensa College. In 1922, he became a professor of botany at the institute and later head of the department. He retired in 1950 from the Meher College in Gangadhar. He was the Chancellor of Utkal University in 1952 and the Chancellor of Sambalpur University in 1967. He received his PhD from Leeds University. At his initiative, the first engineering college in Odisha was established in Burla. There is an educational institution in the name of Egypt. He has written many scientific papers. He also wrote poetry. Parshuram Mishra died on August 4, 1981.
